Belfast’s Republican Journal began its print run in 1829, and from its inception covered the news of Bayside. The paper’s archives, spanning 1829-1922 are available online and can be searched for keyword terms.

- The years 1829-1868 are available through the digital archive of the Belfast Free Library. (Note that the newspaper suspended publication between December 2, 1864 and July 20, 1866.)
- The years 1869-1922 are available through the Chronicling America project, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress.
